Homemade Play-Doh Recipes

by Bethy
Sure, you can buy Play-Doh, in the familiar little yellow plastic jar. Or, if you and the kids are bored, you can make, and color your own Play-dough in various ways. And, if you like, following the edible recipes, you could even EAT it.

Non-Edible:
• 2 Tbsp cream of tartar
• ½ cup salt
• 1 to 2 Tbsp cooking oil
• 1 cup water
• food coloring
Mix flour, cream of tartar, and salt in a pan. Mix desired coloring with water, add with oil to dry mixture. Cook over medium heat until thick. Mix in coloring later if preferred.
Kool-Aid and Crystal Lite iced tea also make awesome dyes.

And if you'd like an edible modelling clay, there's a peanut butter play-dough.

Peanut Butter Play-dough with Milk (Edible)
 1 jar (18 oz. ) peanut butter
• 6 tsp honey
•
½ cup non-fat dry milk (or milk added to flour to make desired consistency)
Mix all together. Decorate with raisins, chocolate chips, coconut, etc.

If your child has milk allergies/ sensitivities, this is a peanut butter play-dough you can make WITHOUT milk.
Peanut Butter Play-Dough (Lactose-free) (Edible)
• ½ cup peanut butter
• 2 Tbsp honey
• ½ cup flour
Mix all together.
Decorate with raisins, chocolate chips, coconut, etc.
